लोकल इंडियन मार्केट प्लेस

A walk through a bazaar in any village, town or city in India would establish the fact that here art is a way of life. It is not easy to fathom what this way of life is. It is difficult to define it. It is a complex but very thoughtfully developed way that enthralls as you understand it better. Is it possible for us to study this aesthetic and to recreate it once again for the cities of India?

We have all been at some time or another fascinated by our experience of the bazaar. If each of us begins to think about the bazaar and what we can do for it in our own way, each of these small steps at a different time and a different place may begin to support the evolution of the bazaar.

Here are some of the things you can expect to find at a typical bazaar in India -

Indian Clothing

Clothing in India varies widely and is closely related to local culture, religion and climate.

Indo-western clothing is the fusion of Western and Subcontinental fashion. Salwar, Churidar, Dupatta, Gamchha, Dhoti, Kurta, Sherwani, Lungi are some of the typical Indian clothes. Latest fashion clothing Anarkali Suit and Masakali Suit are the current trend. Traditional Indian clothing for women are the sari or the salwar kameez and also Ghaghra Cholis (Lehengas). This is draped over a simple or fancy blouse. Little girls wear a pavada in southen India. Bindi is part of the women's make-up.

The salwar kameez is another form of popular dress for females. It consists of loose trousers (the salwar) topped by a long loose shirt (the kameez. It is often mispronounced as "salwar kameez" or simply "salwar". It is commonly worn with a narrow scarf called a dupatta, which is used to cover the head. The salwar kameez is most common in the northwestern part of India.

The women of Rajasthan and Gujarat often wear colorful swirling skirts called lehenga, paired with a short bodice called a choli. If they must cover their heads, they do so with bright veils called odhani. Bandhni (tie & dye) is one common style found mostly in Rajasthan & Gujarat.
